Ready to level up at the next bluegrass jam?

Tell me if this sounds familiar:

  • “I want to join more jams but I have no idea how to improvise.”

  • “I don’t know what to do when someone else is playing.”

  • “I can play the melody, but how do I come up with ideas for my break?”

  • “I’m new to Bluegrass—I don't know the songs they play at the jams.”

If you’ve thought any of those things before, I made this workshop series for you.

  • Ended Jun 11 at 3:00 AM UTC

Bluegrass Foundations Workshop: "Long Journey Home" & Transposing 101

  • Zoom
  • $60
  • Includes 1 additional product

Learn a Bluegrass classic, complete with the melody, essential licks, and accessible music theory concepts you can apply on your own. You'll leave with the practice roadmap you can use to get ready to take a great solo at your next Bluegrass jam!

Every workshop includes access to learning videos, handouts, the chord chart, a guitar track, and the class replay. In June, we're learning how to transpose so you can play songs in any key that's thrown your way!

How it works:

Get a head start.

You’ll receive advance materials (a slow play-through video, recommended source recordings, and a guitar track) so you can learn the melody ahead of class. That way, you already have the basic tune under your fingers when we get together.

Attend the hands-on workshop.

First, we’ll review the melody and chord progression together. Then I'll walk you through you actionable, specific, and approachable tools for soloing, including accessible music theory concepts and specific licks. You'll try these tools in class and leave with a PDF handout that sums up the tools you learned.

Maintain your musical tools.

The workshop is just the beginning. After we meet, you get access to all the handouts, videos, and recordings from class so you can practice the material until it feels second-nature. With ideas and licks already in your muscle memory, you're equipped to create cool, authentic-sounding breaks on the spot in a jam.
